LOCAL STRING TEACHERS

Making a Difference one Lesson at a Time

This list includes string teachers in the Cedar City, Utah area who currently teach private lessons to individual students. Names are listed in alphabetical order by last name. Each teacher works independently with their own schedule, philosophy, and style. Typically students meet weekly or bi-weekly with their teacher for lessons ranging in 30-60 minutes. Teachers meet in person or online, and some can do both. Private lesson fees are set by each teacher and in this area range from and $60-$200 monthly, depending on the lesson length. Please contact the individual teacher to find out if they are currently accepting students, when their open lesson times are, and what they charge. It really helps them if you tell about the student's age, musical experience, and goals. Good luck in finding the right teacher for you!

EOWYN COLBERT

Eowyn Colbert is currently studying Music Education at Southern Utah University. She has enjoyed working as a violinist for the Utah Shakespeare Festivals Playmakers pit orchestra for 2 years. Eowyn teaches violin and voice privately and has been doing it for two years. She mainly follows the Suzuki curriculum, but includes other pieces as well.

CAROLEEN LEE, VIOLIN

Caroleen Lee has her B.A. in violin performance and has taught both piano and violin for 45+ years in venues that include her private studio and the public school--teaching orchestra at all levels, elementary through high school. She has also taught String Methods, Private Instruction, and String Ensemble at the collegiate level. She loves working with dedicated violin and viola students at all ages and levels.

SARA PENNY, VIOLIN & VIOLA

Sara Penny has taught violin and viola for over 50 years and is the founding director of Southern Utah String Festival and Suzuki Strings Cedar City. She is the past President and current assistant for Orchestra of Southern Utah as well as the Vice President of Cedar City Arts Council. She's teaching online or in person violin and viola lessons.

AUTUMN FIRTH, VIOLIN

Autumn is a new teacher who is in her senior year of high school. She has taught private lessons for about three years now, typically teaching beginning students. Autumn loves teaching and typically uses the Suzuki books.  She loves traveling and has been to Canada and all around the U.S.

CALLI PRICE, VIOLIN

Calli Price is a young teacher who loves teaching little kids using the Suzuki Method, ABRSM, Kaleidoscopes, and other materials. Calli focuses her teaching around each individual student to meet their needs. Other fun facts about Calli: Her favorite season is Spring, she loves ice cream, knits, and enjoys spending time with her family.

LINDSAY SZCZESNY, VIOLIN & VIOLA

Lindsay Szczesny has been teaching private lessons for 25 years to students of all ages. She focuses on helping students progress in a positive environment with high standards, kindness, humor, games, and an emphasis on regular practice. Lindsay has a Bachelor's degree in music education from USU and uses the Suzuki  and Kaleidoscope books in teaching students.
